Nested Based Manufacturing (NBM)

Nested based manufacturing refers to using a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) router in concert with parametric cabinet software to process flat panels for the woodworking industry. The router has a flat table with a grid machined into it that is attached to a vacuum pump. Flow through fixturing is accomplished by using a spoil board of ¾” MDF through which the vacuum pump will draw and on top of which is placed 4’x 8’ sheet stock.

The cabinet software will arrange the cabinet parts on the 4’x 8’ sheet and perform all the operations required on the face of the parts, (bore adjustable shelf holes, bore pilot holes for assembly, bore holes for hardware placement, dado for backs or shelves) and cut the part outline to exact size
